About The Founder
A Journey of Transformation
Jon Lorquet’s path to becoming a security expert and tactical instructor at Strategic Defense Academy is unconventional and hard-earned. Growing up in a tough neighborhood, he learned early to recognize violence and its precursors. Those experiences shaped his appreciation and lifelong commitment to safety and security.
Engineering the Foundations of Security
Jon began his professional career in Electrical Engineering, designing robotic equipment for military and petrochemical applications. This work sharpened his problem-solving skills and gave him the methodical, analytical approach he now applies to security.
Cracking Safes and Securing Spaces
From engineering, Jon transitioned into safecracking and then electronic access control. His expertise expanded into consulting, where he developed a comprehensive approach to security.
A Focus on Personal Security
With decades of experience in physical security, Jon turned his attention to personal security. The pandemic and resulting unrest reinforced his conviction that individuals must be prepared to protect themselves and their families.
Sharing the Gift of Security
Today, Jon draws on his life experience, technical background, and tactical expertise to train students at Strategic Defense Academy. His instruction goes beyond technique, instilling confidence and a clear sense of responsibility.
